Lunar Prelude

Delain

Dutch Symphonic Metal band Delain will release a new EP, Lunar Prelude on February 19th through Napalm Records. An 8 track album, it features two brand new songs and live performances from the artist. The album was produced by Grammy award winning producer Ted Jensen, and I had the privilege of listen to the new release.

Delain show that they are getting better in terms of musical progression. The album kick starts with “Suckerpunch”; with bewitchingly catchy rhythms and bombastic symphony, Charlotte Wessels, the lead vocalist, is simply amazing. Timo’s guitar riffs never fail to deliver and there is a great keyboard progression from Martijn.

“Turn The Lights Out”, the second song from the EP, takes a distinctly classical approach. Demonstrating a darker side to the band, with its Gothic roots it becomes a must listen for fans of Delain.

“Don’t Let Go” is a new version from their previously released album The Human Contradiction, and the EP follows with some fillers from their Live Sessions in 2015; “Lullaby”, “Stardust”, “Here Come the Vultures”, and “Army Of Dolls”. Yet again they prove their abilities on stage with a particularly powerful vocal performance.

The EP ends with an orchestral Version of “Suckerpunch”—truly a great end to an album. Delain has taken Symphonic Metal to the next level here, with beautiful orchestration and well a engineered composition. If nothing else kicked your brain, I’m betting this one will, so why don’t you get your copy of the EP and see it for yourself the greatness of Delain one more time?
