The intent on remaining fresh and unique

Sage

Thank you for taking the time to talk to us! I must be honest, I had a hard time preparing for this interview! Outside of your Facebook and YouTube, I could not find much more information about your band! So, tell us a bit about yourselves, who is Sage?

Sage is a recently formed band and it all started a couple of years ago with Enio Vučeta (guitar) and Vlad Vučeta(drummer) when they have decided to make a band. Through time other members joined the band and it didn’t take much time for us to start creating music that we love.

Newly formed, that explains why I could not find much information! How long have you been around? And what have you accomplished so far?

In the beginning of our journey two years ago, we begun a successful collaboration with Casey Grillo – the drummer and producer from the band Kamelot, who is producing Sage’s first album, and was also a guest on our single “Join Us”. We have  already recorded eight songs for our first album which were mixed in Morrisound recording studios, where great performers such as Iced Earth and numerous other renowned metal bands have also recorded. We  are recording our songs in Croatia in J.M. Studio with the assistance of Fedor Boić and Franjo Valentić. Sage oftenly gets air time on a radio show ROCK ON !(Radio city Trieste), and also in Germany, America, Australia, also on the Croatian Music Channel (CMC) and Croatian Radio stations.

The first thing I noticed about your YouTube channel was the quite high production values on your music videos, the oldest dating back 2 years. Did you do all these yourselves?

Not to be forgotten of course, our two camera men, Dinkobraz Shimac and Alen Skaterix Senjan from TheIkobraz productions who make it all come to life with over 100 extras including several knightly orders, including the Knights of the Silver dragon, Knights of the Red Dragon, Knights of St. Nicholas, Knights of Zelina city, Knights of Glogs Wells, and the Bilogorski Rangers, to new a few. There are many others that will appear in their upcoming singles, such as The Final Fight. We thank you all m/

The second thing I noticed, of course, was your music. You have a nice sound! Can you tell us a bit about your style?

The type of the music played is a mix of heavy, symphonic, power and progressive metal, although it is hard to specifically define it due to the band’s intent on remaining fresh and unique.

What are your influences?

Uuuuh…there were many: ZZ Top, Iron Maiden, Queen, Dream Theater, Judas Priest, Ronnie James Dio, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Kamelot, Symphony X, Queensryche, Toto, Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker; Of course many other great bands and performers that had influence on us. The members of the band are: Marko Karaćič (Bass), Vlad Vučeta (Drums), Andrej Božić (Keyboard), Branimir Habek & Enio Vučeta (Guitars/Vocals), Davor Bušljeta (Vocal). We have a lot of influences, as you can see, along with many more unnamed, that have helped us to become who we are now.

When I watch your music videos there seems to be a larger theme between the songs, is that correct?  What do you write about?

The theme of our songs and the album in the making is the Peasants’ Revolt, which metaphorically represents the fight between good and evil, honesty and greed. We decided to sing in English so as to make the message come through to a wider audience, and give more people around the world the opportunity to meet colorful Croatian history through our music.

And who does your writing?

Most of the lyrics are written by Dave (vocals) but we all chip in, and the music itself we do all together by exchanging ideas.

You are based in Zagreb, Croatia. How is the metal scene there?

Its getting a bit better but still its no good compared to other European countries , and it would be great if metal bands would come more often to Croatia that would have considerable effect on our metal scene.

How does a live Sage show look? What makes it worth for someone to visit one of your shows, what do you offer your fans?

We haven’t had a concert , we decided to go in a different direction, so you could follow the story we dedicated our time to creating music and videos but soon that chapter will be over. We have already contacted a lot of festivals throughout all of Europe so if all goes to plan you will be able to see us soon, and also very soon in Zagreb Croatia. Our shows will include fireworks, video production we want to make a spectacle for which we have been preparing the last two years.

So, you’re working on your debut album! What’s the release going to sound like?

We think that each song has a sound of its own , and we will try to keep it fresh. But the sound we like and a lot of people listen to it , and we believe that more will Join Us m/

What can you tell us about the new tracks?

Four more songs to go and four more videos then the album will be finished. It will come out as a CD with a DVD with all the videos as a movie. For which we striven/aspired for the last two years.

What will this year look like for Sage?

If everything goes according to plan, very promising.

Any last words for our readers?

We would like to thank everyone who has supported our band in any way, hope to see you all soon on the big stage.

I’ll be looking forward to seeing and hearing more from you!
