Epic.  Grandiose.  Over-the-top.  These are just a few words to describe this album and this band in general.  Arrayan Path play epic power metal in a similar vein as Blind Guardian and Gamma Ray.  Musically, this has pretty much everything you’d want to hear in a power metal album, from the big choruses, to the happy melodies, to the shredding guitar and keyboard solos.

Ordinarily, I’m a huge fan of power metal of all sorts.  However, I think this album suffers just a little bit from the same fate as Blind Guardian’s ‘A Night at the Opera’ album and pretty much everything that Rhapsody of Fire has ever made.  That fate being that the band made the sound a little bit too grandiose for my liking and bordering on the absurd.  Overall, this isn’t too bad of a listen, although it’s not necessarily the first power metal album I’d go for if I’m looking for something of that style to listen to.
