Brutal, sick & blasphemous death metal

Atretic Intestine

I see you have a new album out, can you tell me a little about what inspired it?

The period on which the songs have been written is somewhere between 2011-2014 so inspiration for the songs as individual concepts have become from multiple artist and real-life stuff during that time.
So no special concept or inspiration happened with this album, we just got (finally!) enough good songs ready for our second full-lenght.

Does 2016 hold any tours or festivals that your fans should look forward to?

Nothing is booked yet besides our album-release show in March 2016. Of course we have some uncormifed plans as always… but let’s talk about them when they are confirmed.

Would you introduce us to the members of Atretic Intestine?

We are are 5-man “traditional” death metal band with a vocalist, 2 guitarists, a bassist, and a drummer.
During the years we’ve managed to keep the line-up pretty solid with minor changes, at least when compared to some of the other bands we’ve been involed in.

Current lineup:
Vocals – Iiro Kosonen (2006->)
Guitars – Jussi Salminen (2007->)
Guitars – Sami Ruohonen (2007-2010, 2013->)
Bass – Markus Vainio (2010-2013 as a guitarist and 2016-> as a bassist)
Drums – Tomi Ruohonen (2009->)

All the bandmembers are connected through the love towards death metal, most of us have been friends since our teens while we spend our time with listening to metal and drinking beer and of course going to gigs and see our favourite artists live! Not too much has changed since them though haha!

From the new album, Trail of Entrails is there a particular track that resonates with each of you personally?

Everyone in the band has their own favourite songs as always and most of the songs are made more or less together, but on this album we have 2 personal songs we could mention. The first one is track number 6. “Reverse Puzzle” The song is written by guitarist Sami after he rejoined the band after a 3-year-break and gave the whole band some new depth in the songwriting-process. The second one is track number 8. “Vomiting On God’s Remains” and it is the longest and most versatile song we’ve ever done. It’s 10 minutes long, and finishing the writing-process on that song took nearly 2 years, and some influences from various genres of metal can be heard on that song. Also this is the only song during our 10-year-history which has an acoustic guitar in it.

Can your fans look forward to any new videos in the near future?

We just released our brand new music video “From Within” (Go check it out on Youtube haha!) less than 1 month ago so at the moment we don’t have plans to make a second music video in a while!

Where can we find out more about Atretic Intestine?

Facebook, Youtube, Soundcloud… the usual social media hehe.

Do you have any particular musical influences?

Death & brutal death metal in general. For some songs we might have some minor influences from other metal subgenres but we want to keep our music to be brutal, sick & blasphemous death metal. Nothing less, nothing more.

When it comes to music, what is your guilty pleasure?

Too many to mention, but none of them is hopefully heard in our music haha!

Lastly; Do you have anything in particular you’d like to say to the Metalheads Forever family?

Thanks for the interview, and everyone who are into death & brutal death metal… check out “Trail Of Entrails” by Atretic Intestine when it hits out February 2016. It will be the sickest (=best!) death metal release of the year!! Stay sick!
